Leadership (Hardcover, 2002)
January 2009
By Rudolph
Giuliani
In Leadership, Giuliani demonstrates
how he used an aggressive, hands-on management
style to deal with everything from petty crime to
terrorism in New York City. His approach is
brought to life by the many vivid -- and at times
harrowing -- real life anecdotes he uses to
illustrate his points. The book focuses more on
leadership principles, than any actual leadership
training or
instruction.
Giuliani's book is a
compelling read, especially his account of
the events on September 11, 2001, which
is both numbing and inspirational. An
edifying example of effective leadership in a
crisis. This book shows a personal experience of how events can shape your leadership skills and how to respond to the unexpected. Guiliani was never fully prepared for the events that changed his mayoral duties, but he explains how he had to respond as a figurehead.
The book's main focus is on leadership in the face of those terrorist attacks and allaying the fear of New Yorkers. Guiliani enforces his other mayoral challenges to show how most leaders must respond in everyday circumstances. While this may not be as gripping to most readers, it will really show you how an aggressive style can produce results, even without a step-by-step account.
This book on his leadership
principles is valuable to any readers who are
interested in our featured leadership topic, Leadership
vs. Management.
It's available discounted at most retailers
around the world including Amazon.
